Cyndal smiling beside her Lionsgate drum

“Her ability to listen to my vision for this drum, understand what I was trying to bring to life, and then translate it into her art absolutely blew me away.”

Dana is one of the most tapped in and gifted artists I know. … The pictures truly don’t do it justice. There are so many beautiful little details woven throughout the drum, and you can feel the intention that went into creating it. And beyond how beautiful it is, it sounds incredible. This drum is so much more than a piece of art to me. It’s a new tool I’ll be bringing into ceremonies, sound journeys, and the work I share with my community. … Thank you, Dana, for creating something that feels so incredibly special.

Pattie playing her hawk drum outdoors

“It still looks brand new years later even with intensive, regular use and lots of travel to very humid climates.”

When I first received my drum, I had no idea it would become my favorite instrument… On my drum there is a hawk in the center, a snake around the hawk, and roses all around. She created a piece uniquely perfect for me with 3 of my most trusted allies. So much prayer and love was put into this piece. … I feel their presence with me as I play, supporting and guiding me. … It’s so beautiful that I was afraid to play it… ever! However, Dana reassured me it would hold and let me tell you, I have put it to the test! … I am absolutely in love with my drum and am so grateful for it! Thank you Dana!

How your drum comes together

Here is my Raven Drum, drawn and painted one part at a time, in the order we'll talk them through together.

The Raven Drum

1

Your primary animal

The one you feel most connected to. Perhaps it has been with you for some time, showing up in your dreams, or has crossed your path in a meaningful way. It becomes the heart of the design.

2

Two secondary animals

Others that walk with you, inspire you and support you. The design may ask for all of them, or just one or two and other elements. I follow what comes through and talk with you the whole way.

3

Your world

A landscape, or a galactic scene of stars, planets and deep space. It becomes the world your animals live inside.

4

Your plants and flowers

The ones that hold meaning for you, or simply the ones you love, woven in.

5

Your intention

What you are calling in, and how you would like to feel while playing your drum. I take it into the design and let the vision assemble itself from there. It is woven through the whole process.

The drum is the heartbeat

It is one of the oldest ways we have of connecting to the heart. You pick it up, begin to play, and your own heartbeat and the drum’s find each other.

A painted drum amplifies that prayer. The image lives on the face of the drum and vibrates through every sound it makes. It is a tool, a piece of art, and it becomes a part of how you serve and express yourself.

They have gone home with ceremony holders and sound healers who use them in their work, and with people who simply felt called to one and wanted something beautiful to play and pray with in their space. You do not need to have a musical background or be a space holder to be called by a drum.

Questions people ask

When do I pay?

Only after we've talked your drum through together. Sending a request is free.

I'm not sure what my animal is.

Tell me what you're drawn to, in your own words. We'll find it together.

Can it be a portrait or spirit guide?

Yes. I paint these often: figures, deities and those based in spiritual tradition. Tell me who you're envisioning.

Is this real buffalo hide?

No. I paint on Remo drums, made from a synthetic material, and I choose them on purpose: they make the most durable painting and can be sealed, they have a deep, beautiful sound, and they travel far better than rawhide drums.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Shipping and the conversion rate for your country are worked out together once we connect.
