The moment they open it

  1. Picture them on Christmas morning, holding a festive red mailer with a little note on the front telling them to save it for today.
  2. They open it, and the scent of roses & incense rises out to meet them. Rose petals spill over their lap as they lift out something wrapped in soft tissue paper.
  3. They unwrap it slowly… and there they are. Their own face or someone they love (pets too!), painted by hand in oil, glowing with a background of their favorite colors.
  4. Then they open the card, and a few pressed flowers slide into their hands. Inside is a note from you, in your words, written out by hand.

The painting fits a standard 11x14 frame (frame not included), or it can rest on a shelf or altar just as it is. Backhanging not included.

A little about me

Hi, I’m Dana ~ I’m a visionary oil painter, and I’ve been painting in oil since I was 12 years old. Most of my work is large-scale paintings that take months to come through.

This season I felt called to create something smaller, a special gift that could live in more homes and be given with love. These portraits are painted in the same oil and with the same care as my larger work, just in a size made for gifting.

When you order one, you’re also supporting an independent artist, and that means the world to me.

    Send your reference photo.

    I’ll reach out within 48 hours to collect your photos. You’re welcome to send a few, and we’ll choose one together. The portrait is painted from that single photo, so please send it within 5 days of your order.

    I paint.

    Each portrait is painted by hand in oil in my studio.

  4. IV

    You see it first.

    I’ll send you a photo of the finished painting before it ships.

    It arrives.

    Every gift ships by December 7, tracked & insured, with plenty of time to arrive before Christmas.

What I’ll need from you

  • Your person’s 2-3 favorite colors. If you’re not sure, let me know whether they lean warm, cool, or a mix, or you can let me choose intuitively.
  • Your message for the card. Write it in the form, or send it to me within 5 days of your order.
  • Your name, email, phone number & Instagram handle, so I can reach you for the photos.

For the best portrait, choose a photo with:

  • Good natural light
  • No extreme angles or warped perspectives
  • Their face clearly visible & in focus
  • The highest resolution you have

Questions

Is this a real oil painting?

Yes. Every portrait is an original, painted by hand in oil & acrylic. Since each one is painted individually, no two will ever be alike.

Can I include multiple people, or a person & their pet?

For this holiday sale, each portrait holds one being ~ one person or one pet. Multi-figure portraits are coming in the new year.

Do you ship outside the U.S.?

This sale ships within the U.S. only, so I can make sure every gift arrives before Christmas.

Will they know not to open it right away?

Yes. Each mailer has a note on the outside letting them know there’s a gift inside to save for Christmas.

What if I don’t know their favorite colors?

Tell me if they lean warm, cool, or a mix, or let me choose intuitively. I love painting from whatever comes through.

What’s your refund policy?

Because each portrait is custom made, orders are nonrefundable once I begin painting.

What if the package gets lost in the mail?

Every gift ships tracked & insured. If anything happens in transit, I’ll work with you to make it right.
